Pullet chickens management knowledge-Transport of chicks

The chicks can be transported 1 hour after hatching. Generally, it is better for the chicks to stand up to 36 hours after the fluff is dry, preferably not more than 48 hours, to ensure that the chicks eat and drink on time. The selected chicks are packed in special, high-quality chick boxes. Each box is divided into four small compartments, and 20 to 25 chicks are placed in each compartment. Special plastic baskets are also available.

In summer, try to avoid high temperature during the day. Before transportation, sterilize the chick transport vehicle, chick transport box, tools, etc., and adjust the temperature in the compartment to about 28°C. Try to keep the chicks in a dark state during transportation, which can reduce the activity of the chicks on the way and reduce the damage caused by mutual squeezing. The vehicle should run smoothly, try to avoid bumps, sudden braking and sharp turns, turn on the lights for about 30 minutes to observe the performance of the chicks once, and deal with any problems in time.

When the chick truck arrives, the chicks should be quickly removed from the chick truck. After the chick box is placed in the chicken house, it cannot be stacked, but should be spread on the ground. At the same time, the lid of the chick box should be removed, and the chicks should be poured out of the box within half an hour and spread evenly. Place the correct number of chicks in the brood pen according to the brooder brood size. Empty chick boxes should be removed from the house and destroyed.

Some customers need to check the quality and quantity after receiving the chicks. They must first unload the chick box from the car, spread it out, and then assign a special person to check. Spot checks cannot be carried out in the car or the whole flock in the cage, which often causes heat stress that outweighs the gains.
